In a solemn ceremony held today, on the 4th of January
2024, the St. Christopher Diocese of Owerri witnessed the Investiture of
Knights and the Acceptance of Associate Knights into the Sacred Order of
Knighthood. The event, which took place at the Cathedral, was graced by the
presence of Rt. Revd. Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah, P.H.D, JP, the Lord Bishop of
the Anglican Diocese of Owerri.
The ceremony commenced with a powerful sermon delivered
by Ven. Onyinyeoma Onyeagocha, the Sub-Dean of the Cathedral. Ven. Onyeagocha
emphasised the importance of embracing Jesus as the Lord and Saviour,
underscoring that individuals must choose between being on the Lord’s side or
the Devil’s side. He urged the congregation to prioritise seeking the kingdom
of God, assuring them that everything else would fall into place.
Furthermore, Ven. Onyeagocha encouraged everyone present
to be a beacon of light and to walk in the path of the Lord. His words
resonated with the spirit of the ceremony, setting the tone for the Investiture
that followed.
Rt. Revd. Chukwuma Chinekezi Oparah, accompanied by his
wife, Dr. Mrs. Chidiebere Oparah (Mama Owerri), took center stage as he
officiated the investiture of 121 individuals into knighthood. The investiture
ceremony symbolized a commitment to service, faith, and the values upheld by
the Sacred Order of Knighthood.
The occasion was further graced by the presence of
Chinyere Ekeomaru, deputy governor-elect of Imo State, who briefly attended the
ceremony with her husband. The event drew a congregation eager to witness the
induction of new knights and the reaffirmation of their commitment to the
principles of their faith. As the newly invested knights took their vows, the
Cathedral resonated with a sense of solemnity and purpose.
The Investiture and Acceptance of Associate Knights into
the Sacred Order of Knighthood of St. Christopher Diocese of Owerri will
undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the community, marking a significant
